Blue Telescope, the interactive exhibit agency, has been awarded with 3 Communicator Awards, including an Award of Excellence, by the International Academy of the Visual Arts. The Blue Telescope projects were recognized from over 6,000 entries in this year’s competition which celebrates the creative excellence of communications professionals.

Created for Evelyn Hill Inc., Journey to Ellis Island and the Immigration Map Explorer are both located at Ellis Island and utilize the multi-user, multi-touch Microsoft Surface tabletop display. Award of Excellence winner Journey to Ellis Island was honored in the category of “Interactive Multimedia: Education” and allows several visitors at a time to virtually experience what it meant to be processed at Ellis Island utilizing historical content and mini-games.

Recognized with an Award of Distinction within the category “Interactive Multimedia: Education”, the Immigration Map Explorer spotlights trivia about the nations which have had a significant impact on the immigration history of the United States. Kid friendly facts about language, food, and culture are explored in a social, face-to-face learning experience.

The recipient of another Award of Distinction within the category “Interactive Multimedia: Cultural Institutions” is the New York Hall of Science Photo-Voltaic Energy interactive program. The interactive, which illustrates the benefits of solar power, can be viewed at the New York Hall of Science as well as online at http://www.nysci.org/photovoltaic.
