Blue Telescope worked with BBC Earth to develop a game show experience, What on Earth?, as a special event for Holland America cruise ships across the globe.
Presented in each ship's theater, the game invites audience members to test their knowledge of natural history using content from BBC's vast media library. Each round implements a different format, from multiple-choice questions to hidden image puzzles to video- and audio-based quizzes.
Blue Telescope developed a control system to run the games, coordinating answer buzzers, animated scoreboards, a large projected game board, and a touch-based game control system for use by the ship's crew. A simple CMS managed dozens of questions, sounds, and videos, and custom software layered the content seamlessly with branded templates, animations and sound effects.
The game is currently being rolled out to Holland America's entire fleet in conjunction with concerts, films, and other activities based around BBC Earth content.
